Audi A4
Refined compact luxury with quattro confidence
Audi A4 review
The Audi A4 is a compact luxury sedan that prioritizes quiet refinement over flash. A turbocharged four-cylinder, standard mild-hybrid assistance, and available quattro all-wheel drive give it everyday usability across US climates. Inside, you get a clean cabin, solid build quality, and intuitive tech. It competes against established German and Japanese rivals, leaning on comfort, composed handling, and brand polish rather than outright sportiness or segment-leading cargo space.
On the road, the A4 feels exactly as a compact Audi should: planted, quiet, and unflustered. The 2.0-liter turbo four delivers strong midrange punch, and the quick-shifting automatic keeps things smooth in traffic. Mild-hybrid tech smooths stop-start transitions and trims fuel use slightly. It isn't a sports sedan in the sharpest sense, but body control is tidy and the steering is accurate, if a touch light on feedback. Quattro models feel especially sure-footed in rain and snow.
The cabin is where the A4 earns its money. Materials are consistently good, the layout is logical, and the standard digital instrument cluster looks crisp. The infotainment touchscreen responds quickly and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Front-seat comfort is excellent on long drives, with supportive seats and low noise levels at highway speed. Rear legroom is adequate rather than generous, and taller passengers may find headroom snug.
Practically, the A4 is a sensible daily companion. Trunk space is competitive for the class but trails some rivals and most SUVs. Fuel economy is reasonable for a turbocharged AWD luxury car, though premium fuel is recommended. Driver-assistance features are comprehensive, with adaptive cruise, lane keeping, and parking aids available or standard depending on trim.
The main caveats are cost and options pricing. The base car is well-equipped, but desirable extras add up quickly, and a loaded A4 pushes into pricier territory. Some buyers will also wish for more rear-seat space or a plug-in option. Even so, the fundamentals — comfort, quality, and composure — remain genuinely strong.

Owner reviews
Quiet and classy daily driver
It's the most refined car I've owned. The cabin stays hushed on the highway and the seats are great on long trips. My only gripe is that the features I really wanted pushed the price up more than I expected.
quattro is worth it in winter
Living in the Northeast, the all-wheel drive has been fantastic in snow and rain. Power is plenty for daily driving and merging. Rear seat is a bit tight when I have adult passengers, but otherwise no complaints.
Great car, mind the fuel
Love the interior quality and how easy the tech is to use with wireless CarPlay. It does ask for premium gas, so factor that in. Trunk works fine for groceries and a couple of bags but it's not huge.
