BMW Cars
2 models available.
BMW has built cars at its Chennai plant since 2007, assembling the 3 Series, 5 Series, X1 and X3 locally to keep them competitive against Mercedes. Its Indian pitch has always been the driving experience rather than rear-seat luxury.
CarQuill India currently tracks 2 BMW models. Prices run from ₹72.90 Lakh for the 5 Series up to ₹97.50 Lakh for the X5. The line-up covers sedan and suv body styles. Fuel options across the range include petrol and diesel. Every model here offers an automatic.
What to weigh up before you buy
If you drive yourself, a 3 Series or an X1 is more entertaining than anything Mercedes sells at the price. Locally assembled models are reasonably priced for what they are. Watch out for run-flat tyres, which ride firmly on poor surfaces and cost a lot to replace, and budget properly for out-of-warranty maintenance.
